Update on My Blog: Scheduled Postings

Readers,

First off, this blog has taken off in ways that I hadn’t initially imagined.  I appreciate all the readers out there who have subscribed to me.  That said, you may have noticed a period of inactivity the past week and change.

This is, really, because of two things.  First, I burned myself out.  I was, at first, writing about 2 posts a day (with the intent of having backups) and by time I was done with that first big batch, I was so burned out I wanted nothing to do with this blog for a bit. Secondly, my life outside of my blog has changed and provided me slightly less free time in which to write.

With that being said, I really do want to continue this blog, and so am looking to give you, my readers, some form of consistency.  Here is my new commitment to you all:

Post Schedule:  I will be moving to a post schedule of Tuesday, Thursday and optional Saturday updates.    These posts will be up between 5:00p and 8:00p on those days.

Post Content:   My content will be unchanged in length and quality.

One of the reasons I went to a two (plus optional) day schedule is because I like to write slightly longer, more detailed posts.  I know many sources suggest avoiding long posts on blogs for fear of losing your readers, but I feel I just wouldn’t have enough to say to keep readers coming back.

I wrestled with myself over doing 3 days a week (M/W/F) but realized that to do so, I would have to shorten my posts up and move almost everything to multi-day and multi-part posts.  While for some of these (such as the Atheism and Empire discussions) there is a need because of the scope of the topic, I felt it would mean less to my readers if I went to an almost serialized format.

Anyway, with that said, I hope that you will continue to read and enjoy my blog.  If you have serious issues with anything I said, feel free to comment or e-mail me.  I’m always happy to consider the opinions of readers in this process.
